This is a family activity and we welcome all children ages 4-11

Please note: this event is free but booking is essential as spaces are limited. Please email volunteer-reading@tcv.org.uk with number of kids and adults.

This is a TCV activity funded by Hampshire County Council.

With heathlands, woodlands and ponds, Yateley Common offers a variety of experiences to visitors. You can walk, cycle and horse ride through 193 hectares of varied and wildlife rich surroundings. The Common also offers visitors the opportunity to fish, bird watch, and get involved in practical conservation through volunteering.

What to bring?

If you love making dens, we love these den kits.  the first we use inside and out, the little suction fixings means you can attach the den to french doors or windows, the hooks and grippers are great to attaching to shelves, chairs or trees and the ground pegs allow you to use outdoors.

There are also some lovely nature trails. Allowing your little ones to go bug hunting under logs and in the leaves.

We love packing these and hunting for all the things on the cards.  We love packing these and hunting for all the things on the cards. The children have little bags for collecting the items. These are great for allowing the kids to easily see what they have collected so far.

Other activities ideas

The open areas lend themselves to a bit of bird watching.  This kit contains everything you need to take your family bird watching, including bird identifcation cards and binoculars.

Or a bit of pond dipping

Outdoor clothing and sensible footwear appropriate for the weather.  Ski suits are really good for children when taking part in autumn and winter outdoor activities as they keep the child snug and offer brilliant protection when splashing in puddles :) We have ones similar to this.

There are so many trees, why not make a little educational trip. get your little ones a book or worksheet and help them identify the trees you find.
