Step into the magical world of The Nutcracker this Christmas at Winkworth Arboretum. Follow Clara’s enchanting journey through the winter woodlands, where festive storybook scenes, twinkling lights and life-sized Nutcracker sculptures bring this classic tale to life.
✨ Highlights include:
🎠 Vintage Carousel – running Fridays to Sundays (10:30am–3:30pm) from 29 Nov–14 Dec, and daily from 18 Dec–4 Jan (closed Christmas Eve & Day).
🌲 Nutcracker Trail – explore the Snowflake Forest, Land of Sweets and meet eight giant Nutcrackers hidden across the arboretum.
🍭 Interactive family fun – candy-themed challenges, magical mirrors and a chance to dance with the Sugar Plum Fairy.
❄️ Festive woodland walks – soak up the crisp winter air, the sparkle of frost and the natural beauty of the arboretum in its winter glory.
Whether it’s a crisp morning stroll or a muddy adventure with the kids, The Nutcracker at Winkworth is a joyful festive day out for all ages.
Great for families
This is a great place for long walks with the family. The steep climbs mean it is not recommended for bikes.
The trees are lovely and the cafe serves a lovely lunch.
What to wear?
Outdoor clothing and sensible footwear appropriate for the weather. Ski suits are really good for children when taking part in autumn and winter outdoor activities as they keep the child snug and offer brilliant protection when splashing in puddles :) We have ones similar to this.
There are so many trees in the Arboretum, why not make a little educational trip. get your little ones a book or worksheet and help them identify the trees you find.
The open areas lend themselves to a bit of bird watching. This kit contains everything you need to take your family bird watching, including bird identifcation cards and binoculars.
There are also some lovely nature trails. Allowing your little ones to go bug hunting under logs and in the leaves.
