Witley Woodlarks forest school sessions

Come along to Witley Woodlarks, our outdoor woodland sessions for toddlers and preschoolers at the Witley Centre.

Our sessions provide freedom and space for children to explore and connect with the natural world as well as with other children in a safe and enjoyable way. From bug hunting to scavenger hunts, craft making, songs, games, stories and lots more. Puddles included! Sessions start with the Witley Woodlarks song and each week has a special theme.

Meeting point
The sessions will be based at the Witley Centre, Haslemere Rd. Witley. There is a car park at Webb Road. Parking for members of the National Trust is free, or £1.50 per hour for the first 2 hours.
What to bring and wear
Dress for mess. Please make sure you and your child are suitably dressed; waterproofs, sun hat and sun cream, depending on the weather.
Accessibility
Ponds and outdoor classroom area are buggy and wheelchair accessible. Most paths and woodland areas are buggy friendly. Closer parking can be arranged for visitors with disabilities.

When: Every Wednesday between 18th September to 23rd October 2019 Time: 10.00 -11.00 or 13.00 - 14.00. Cost: 6 sessions for £35 per woodlark.

What to wear?

 

Outdoor clothing and sensible footwear appropriate for the weather.  Ski suits are really good for children when taking part in autumn and winter outdoor activities as they keep the child snug and offer brilliant protection when splashing in puddles :) We have ones similar to this.

They have a really good bird watching area over looking marsh land.  This kit contains everything you need to take your family bird watching, including bird identifcation cards and binoculars.

There are also some lovely nature trails. Allowing your little ones to go bug hunting under logs and in the leaves.

 

There are so many trees in the Vyne, why not make a little educational trip. get your little ones a book or worksheet and help them identify the trees you find.

 

 

Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and explore our many footpaths and bridleways. Follow the well-signposted trails; there’s so much to see. On a late spring evening you may be lucky to hear the song of a nightingale.

Come along and find out more about nature - the commons are home to many plants from low-lying heathers to tall Scots pine trees and wildlife such as scaly lizards to beautiful butterflies.
