The fashion industry is one of the highest polluters, but you can make a difference by stitching new life into old clothes - learning to make do and mend with ‘visible mending’.
During this workshop, you will be introduced to the idea of visible mending to patch or repurpose clothes, using the Japanese ethos that visible mending is beautiful and shows a garments story.
You will spend your time practicing hand sewing stitches and skills, inspired by Japanese Sashiko and Boro, using preloved garments and waste fabric offcuts to make a sustainable bookmark or mug mat.
For all generations, including older children age 9+. Any children must be accompanied by an adult.
