Contemporary Dance lesson in Farnham

Contemporary dance is a wonderful, expressive and invigorating art form, it covers a broad range of movement styles.

The mixture of different genres which feed into contemporary dance extend to

• flaminco,
• folk dance,
• classical ballet
• Hip Hop.

There is neoclassical work which can be very line focused, and then floorwork which sometimes takes elements from breakdance. Early contemporary dance pioneers include Isadora Duncan, Ruth St Denis and Martha Graham, whose technique is still taught to this day. 

 

Some contemporary dance classes are deliberately lead in rooms with no mirrors, and can be very sensation orientated, with a focus on improvisation seeking certain qualities and feelings, rather than specific positions.

Demeric Dance

Demeric school of Dance runs classes in the Cecchetti method of ISTD Classical Ballet, ISTD Modern, ISTD Tap, Acro and Street Dance.

Classes are run 6 days a week from the Dance Studios in the Farnham Maltings, Farnham Methodist Church, Rowledge village hall and the spire church Hall and St Polycarp’s Catholic School.

We offer classes for children aged 2yrs up to advanced student level. With Adult Ballet and Tap classes too
