The walk

This is a super valley walk with the difference of a free rail journey at the end! This walk is 15 km (just under 9.5 miles), mainly along our Blackwater Path, starting at North Camp station at 10.00am and ending at Crowthorne station in good time for the 15.20 train back to North Camp at 15.34. An outdoor lunch stop will be made so bring something to sustain you. There are no stiles or big hills.

We will meet at North Camp station at 10.00 outside the Old Ford pub. For those travelling on Guildford bound trains you will need to cross the level crossing. Those coming by car can park roadside – beware yellow lines and signs, the station car park (fee payable) or use the Old Ford pub car park for a voluntary donation of £2 which the pub will give to a charity of their choice.

Booking details

Walkers may make use of a free group travel pass courtesy of the walk organisers, the Community Rail Partnership, for the return journey (normally £4.60). This will be arranged 7 days in advance so please book your place by 17 September. If you don’t book you may still walk but will need to pay the fare at Crowthorne station.

Community Rail Partnership

The three Rail to Trail walks are part of a partnership project to show just how accessible the Blackwater Valley is by train and how easy it is for people to explore the countryside by combining the Blackwater path and the rail network.

The walks will be a chance for both seasoned Blackwater Valley walkers as well as visitors to use the concept of rail travel to easily access and enjoy more of the wonderful 23 miles of wildlife corridor.

A fabulous programme of free events for our Blackwater River Festival.

See nature close up and enjoy the countryside with us 21 to 29 September.
