Price: £0.00 (Adults £0.00 / Children £0.00 )

Free watch party with expert commentary and Q&A from the UK's National Space Centre. The Mars 2020 team is working hard to get the Perseverance rover to the launch pad. Join us for all the live launch action.

We will kick off with a LIVE Q&A session with Anu Ojha from the National Space Academy, so get ready with all your questions about the launch and the Perseverance mission.

Then we will head over LIVE to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, to see the launch of the mighty Atlas V-541 rocket, one of the largest rockets available for interplanetary flight, with its precious payload on its way to Mars.

Anu Ojha

Director of the National Space Academy, Honorary Professor at the University of Leicester, sits on the Human Spaceflight and Exploration Science Advisory Committee for the European Space Agency and, among others, as a member of the Space Exploration Advisory Committee for the UK Space Agency, Anu is one of the leading space experts in the UK.

When will it launch?

The launch period is approximately three weeks, from July 30 to August 15. The duration of the daily launch window varies from day to day. The launch windows will last approximately two hours, with a unique launch opportunity every five minutes.

We will be working with NASA to schedule this event to run at the optimum times, however, the safe launch of the rocket and payload is paramount, so there may be delays.

We shall endeavour to keep you updated of any changes.

Why watch it through the National Space Centre?

The National Space Centre is an educational charity and the UK’s leading science and discovery centre dedicated to space exploration and science. Our mission is to inspire and educate.

We will be hosting this free event to add a UK perspective to the launch, as well as adding time for LIVE questions.

If you are a family looking to support home schooling opportunities, or anybody interested in knowing more about the Perseverance mission, this event has been created for you.
