FREE TALK & MOTH EVENING! Join entomologist Andrew Halstead to learn about the insects on our local heaths! The plants and the warm microclimates of the heaths make them very special places for insects – a host of solitary bees, robber flies, bee wolves and spider-hunting wasps are just some of the curiosities waiting to be discovered!
We’ll also be running a moth trap on the same evening. Anyone is welcome to come and see how this is done and what we find!
If you can’t make the talk, you can also join us for a walk with Andrew onto Horsell Common. Andrew’s enthusiasm for insects is infectious, so join in the fun if you can!
All FREE of charge and no booking required! Parking at Heather Farm.
Sometimes circumstances beyond our control mean that last-minute changes have to be made. Please check this website for the latest details before attending any of our Heath Week events.
TBH is a partnership of local councils, land managers and nature conservation bodies conserving the heathland of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. On these pages we’re sharing the story of the heathland and bringing you news of ‘Greenspace on your doorstep’, a strategy to create local country walks that help protect heathland wildlife.
